| Summary, etc. | We are witnessing the dawn of a new paradigm in Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) , where large-scale embedded computing systems will interact with the physical environment in a ubiquitous and pervasive fashion The landscape of potential new applications is tremendous ; homeland security , environmental monitoring , health care , domestics , or factory automation are just a few elucidative examples of how these emerging embedded technologies will impact our daily life and society at large In order for these applications to become a reality , it is mandatory to find adequate Wireless Sen - sor Network (WSN) infrastructures that comply with complex requirements In this context , IEEE 802.15.4/ZigBee seems potentially interesting to act as federating communication protocols for WSNs Nevertheless , several issues in the standard specifications are still open Based on IEEE 802.15.4. ZigBee is developed for low-power and low-data-rate wireless communication and it is building up remarkable position for WSN As ZigBee is using the 2.4 GHz Industrial , Sci- entific , and Medical (ISM) unlicensed frequency band , coexistence issues arise as there are also other wireless technologies sharing the same band , such as 802.11b/g Wi-Fi , Bluetooth , cordless phones and even microwave ovens Due to the low transmission power , ZigBee is potentially vul - nerable to the interference introduced by these technologies Therefore , it is desirable to improve the robustness of ZigBee networks As Wi-Fi is widely deployed and often collocated with Zig - Bee networks in applications , such as hospitals and home buildings , we take Wi-Fi as the main interference source This thesis provides indication to the performance of ZigBee WSNs/IEEE 802.15.4 coexisting with IEEE 802.11b/g WLANS Through extensive measurements for packet error rate (PER) link quality indication (1.QI) and received signal strength indication (RSSI) performance met |

| Summary, etc. | التقدم التكنولوجي في مجال الإلكترونيات و الإتصالات اطلق العنان لكثير من الأبحاث و التطبيقات في مجال الإتصالات اللاسلكية الشبكات اللاسلكية الحساسة خصوصا تحظي باهتمام كبير هذه الأيام نظرا لما تتمتع به هذه الشبكات من خصائص و ميزات و نظرا لدخول هذا النوع من الشبكات في كثير من التطبيقات فإن التواجد و التداخل بينه و بين انواع أخري من الشبكات شئ لا مقر منه و يسبب كثير من النقص في الأداء نظرا لشغلهم جميعا في نفس الحزمة من الترددات في طيات هذه الرسالة العلمية قمنا بدراسة تأثير التواجد بين نوعين مهمين من الشبكات وهم الأكثر شيوعا و انتشارا علي الإطلاق قمنا بهذه الدراسة على ثلاث مراحل و هي :1 دراسة التداخل بين الشبكات اللاسلكية ذو النطاق المحدود و الشبكات اللاسلكية الحساسة عن طريق المحاكاة ببرنامج ال OPNET ، 2 دراسة التداخل بين الشبكات اللاسلكية ذو النطاق المحدود و الشبكات اللاسلكية الحساسة عن طريق الدراسة العملية 3 دراسة الحل المقترح للتخلص من التداخل الناتج عن التواجد بين الشبكات اللاسلكية ذو النطاق المحدود و الشبكات اللاسلكية الحساسة و كذلك بين شبكتين من النوع اللاسلكي الحساس عندما يشغلون نفس القناة الترددية |
