I am writing this with the intention of enhancing your interest in pollution control- and specifically in this book- but permit me to explain the backdrop of the experience which has prompted me to make these statements. In 1994 I had the privilege of organizing a short-term training programme in environmental pollution control engineering for in-service personnel and freshly graduated MSc/BE degree students. The course material was specially designed and developed for this programme with an aim to integrate the virtues of a) clarity b) brevity c) comprehensiveness and d) topicality. We were flattered when the first edition of the training programme was so well-liked by the participants - 75% of whom were mature professionals working in industries - that they prevailed upon us to organize it once again within a month for their colleagues. The second version was even more popular and brought in requests for an encore... this trend continued. As a result within a short span of a few years we have run this programme again and again with consistent-rather increasing - popularity. PREFACE
Efforts made towards pollution control can bring to its
protagonist unexpected additional benefits. Even efforts
to teach pollution control can produce useful byproducts!
I am writing this with the intention of enhancing your
